Our Distribution Training team are now looking for a passionate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) Trainer to support the safe and effective use of material handling equipment across our operations. This role has been created due to growth and is a rare and exciting opportunity within the industry. This is a unique opportunity to deliver best-in-class training across our Thatcham site and occasionally at our iconic Knightsbridge store. You will play a vital role in maintaining Harrods’ high standards of safety, service and operational excellence.

About the Role 

You will take ownership of all material handling equipment (MHE) training, certification and associated compliance records. You will also contribute to wider Health and Safety projects and future training programmes across the business. Approximately 50% of your workload will be delivering training sessions and 50% will include health & safety checks and walkarounds as well as spotting opportunities where new training methods can be created. 

You will be responsible for: 

  • Planning and delivering accredited training for the full range of MHE in use across Harrods Distribution- ranging from 1 day-1-week sessions. 
  • Developing and driving future projects such as shaping the new staff induction at Thatcham. 
  • Developing and delivering onboarding programmes, including a new Harrods induction for all Thatcham-based starters. 
  • Supporting with minor Health and Safety projects, process improvements and training initiatives. 
  • Supporting with equipment maintenance coordination and liaising with external engineers. 
  • Managing your own diary. 
  • Managing MHE checklists and ensuring relevant materials are replenished. 
  • Maintaining all training, testing and certification documentation in line with accrediting body requirements (supported by our Health and Safety Administrator). 

Typically working 7.00am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday, with some flexibility required for occasional late shifts or travel to Knightsbridge (travel expenses and time covered).

About You 

You will be an approachable, confident and knowledgeable professional with either a strong background in operating material handling equipment or in delivering training and developing others. We can provide all the training you will need in MHE to be able to deliver engaging training sessions.  

You will: 

  • Be a clear and effective, highly engaging communicator, confident delivering both practical and classroom-based training 
  • Be proactive and show initiative to drive developments and improvements  
  • Demonstrate good organisation and a proactive approach to managing documentation and training records 
  • Be a self-starter who enjoys autonomy while also working collaboratively with the wider Health and Safety team 
  • Have significant experience using a variety of MHE, such as forklifts, pallet trucks or similar vehicles (training qualifications are a plus, but not essential)
